Polanski to Evade Justice in Swiss Paradise

This was just announced less than an hour ago, so I don’t have a lot of details, but the Swiss Ministry of Justice has announced that it will not extradite Roman Polanski to face justice for child-rape.

ABC, in a two paragraph story, notes:

“The reason for the decision lies in the fact that it was not possible to exclude with the necessary certainty a fault in the U.S. extraditionary request,” the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

This is just extra confirmation that there’s a double standard at work here. Just imagine if this was Fr. Roman Polanski. And Polanski’s supporters, many of whom harshly (and rightly) criticized Catholic clergy for the same crimes, give the lie to the notion that it’s “all about the children,” and not about scoring points against the Church.
