Happy All Saints’ Day!

 (1) On this day in 1946, twenty-five year old Karol Wojtyła was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Krakow, Poland.  Fr. Wojtyła would later become Poland’s youngest bishop, at 36, and in 1964, he became Archbishop of Krakow.  A mere three years later, he was elevated to the rank of Cardinal by Pope Paul VI.  In October of 1978, Cardinal Wojtyła became Pope John Paul II. God willing, he shall soon be Pope St. John Paul II. Pray for us, JPII!

(2) If you’re interested, here’s a post I wrote last year on Hallowe’en, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day that looks pretty briefly at the issue of justification, and how we can’t merit justification any more than kids can merit trick-or-treat candy.  All we can do is ask, that we might receive.
