Try to guess who made these statements:
Those who are in charge of the sacred mysteries, and especially those who are careless about their task, should realize that the chalices, corporals, and altar linens where the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ are offered in sacrifice should be completely suitable. And besides, many clerics reserve the Blessed Sacrament in unsuitable places or carry It about irreverently, or receive It unworthily, or give It to all-comers without distinction…
Cheap trick question my brother…but I like it.
Cheap is all I got 🙂
I don’t get it… what’s the trick?
My trick was google and googlebooks 🙂
Darn google machine…it was St. Francis of Assissi who made the comments. I was just struck that 1) we’re still dealing with many of the same concerns 800 years later and 2) the “I like animals too” Confirmation saint isn’t recognized enough for his great Eucharistic devotion and pastoral astuteness.
I just bought that book I linked to earlier. It’s awesome!
Awesome! I gave a talk (four times) this week to parents of second graders preparing for their First Communion and that book was really helpful.
