FOCUS’ 30 Under 30

I recently discovered that I had the honor of being selected for FOCUS’ “30 Under 30” series. If you’re not familiar, FOCUS is the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, “a national outreach that meets college students where they are and invites them into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith.” Their 30 Under 30 Series spotlights “30 young Catholics under the age of 30 who are making a difference in our Church and in our world.” The 30 nominees are divided into five different categories: Activists, Artists and Athletes, Apostolates, New Media, and Intellectuals.

I was chosen for the last category, Intellectuals*, alongside amazing folks like Leah Libresco, Marc Barnes, and Mitch Boersma (Boersma is COO of the Catholic Information Center, where I spent a lot of time discerning my vocation). You can read the piece here. It’s an honor, so thanks to those who nominated me!

By the way, FOCUS actually began in my Archdiocese: at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, to be exact. In the fifteen years since their founding, “FOCUS has grown from four missionaries serving one campus to over 350 missionaries serving 83 campuses in 34 states across the nation.” They’re a great group (I thought this even prior to this, really!), and a good source of vocations. One of the new seminarians for St. Louis is a former FOCUS missionary from D.C. So be sure to check FOCUS out if you’re not already familiar!

*I assume it was a challenge deciding between this and “Artists and Athletes.”
